Baerbock: „Ein Mann kann den Krieg morgen beenden“
Bundesaußenministerin Annalena Baerbock hat China dazu aufgerufen, mehr Einfluss auf Russland auszuüben, um den Ukraine-Konflikt zu stoppen.
„Ein Mann kann den Krieg morgen beenden“, sagt sie im Laufe ihres Besuchs in Peking mit Verweis auf den russischen Präsidenten, Wladimir Putin.
Nach einem Gespräch mit ihrem chinesischen Amtskollegen Qin Gang betonte Baerbock, sie verstehe nicht, wieso China bisher Russland nicht aufgefordert habe, den Konflikt zu stoppen.

Nach einem Gespräch mit ihrem chinesischen Amtskollegen Qin Gang betonte Baerbock, sie verstehe nicht, wieso China bisher Russland nicht aufgefordert habe, den Konflikt zu stoppen.
"There are several million Russians who can lift their head up from propaganda and try to look for other sources, and I'd say that most look for it on Telegram," he said. Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores. Just days after Russia invaded Ukraine, Durov wrote that Telegram was "increasingly becoming a source of unverified information," and he worried about the app being used to "incite ethnic hatred." Asked about its stance on disinformation, Telegram spokesperson Remi Vaughn told AFP: "As noted by our CEO, the sheer volume of information being shared on channels makes it extremely difficult to verify, so it's important that users double-check what they read." After fleeing Russia, the brothers founded Telegram as a way to communicate outside the Kremlin's orbit. They now run it from Dubai, and Pavel Durov says it has more than 500 million monthly active users.
