По данным «Экологической вахты Сахалина», остаток пойман фактически незаконно. Региональный рыбохозяйственный институт подготовил рекомендации о прекращении промысла горбуши в регионе, но вряд ли это поможет: реки уже пусты.
Для оптимального заполнения нерестовых рек восточного Сахалина в них необходимо пропустить около 15 тысяч тонн горбуши. Но ее ожидаемый возврат в 2021 году - лишь 8 тысяч тонн. Уже известно о том, что «Эковахта Сахалина» готовит обращение в природоохранную прокуратуру.
