ذكر ابن رجب الحنبلى فى كتابه جامع العلوم والحكم: أن الأعمال لغير الله أقسام، ومنها: - رياء محض بحيث لا يراد به سوى مراءاة الناس، ودا ولا شك حابط وصاحبه يستحق المقت والعقوبة. - العمل لله وأشرك معه غيره رياءً: ودا على صور: 1- فإن شاركه من الأصل فالنصوص على بطلانه وحبوطه..وإن خالطه شيء غير الرياء نقص بذلك أجره ولم يبطل بالكلية. 2- وأما إن كان أصل العمل لله (وهذا هو الشاهد) ثم طرأت عليه نية الرياء، فإن كان خاطرًا ودفعه فلا يضره بغير خلاف، فإن استرسل مع الرياء؛ ففى ذلك خلاف ورجح الإمام أحمد وابن جرير بأنه يجازى بنيته الأولى معالجة النية باستمرار مهم وكان من دعاء مطرف بن عبد الله: اللهم إنى أستغفرك مما زعمت أنى أردت به وجهك فخالط قلبى منه ما قد علمت.
