На побережье Казахстана найдено почти 2000 мертвых тюленей.

СМИ со ссылкой на Жайык-Каспийскую межобластную инспекцию рыбного хозяйства сообщают, что с 24 октября по 18 ноября 2024 года на берегу Каспия в Тупкараганском районе Мангистауской области обнаружено 1155 останков мертвых тюленей. Во время воздушной разведки над побережьем, островами Кулалы, Тенгиз, Подгорный, Новый, а также территориями месторождений Каражанбас и Каламкас выявлено еще 834 туши, из которых более 500 — на острове Кулалы. Всего собрано 1989 мертвых тюленей.

Образцы тканей и органов проверили на птичий грипп, чуму, сальмонеллёз, пастереллёз, листериоз и другие инфекции. Все анализы дали отрицательные результаты. Причина массовой гибели остается загадкой.
