ولعل هذه المهابة لم تُلقَ على جميع الأنبياء؛ فسيدنا موسى عليه الصلاة والسلام قيل له: {وألقيتُ عليك محبة منِّي}، ويكون سيدنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم قد أُلقي عليه الشيئان: المهابة والمحبة. ويشير له قولُ أبي ترابٍ عليٍّ رضي الله عنه في وصفه: "من رآه بديهةً هابَهُ، ومن خالطَهُ أحبَّه". كما في سيرة ابن هشام 1/ 402 قال البوصيري رحمه الله: كأنَّه -وهو فرْدٌ- من جلالته ** في عسكرٍ حين تلقاه وفي حشَمِ .
