В древнерусском искусстве апостола Петра всегда можно узнать по охристому плащу и короткой округлой бороде. Святой прославляется как избранный ученик Христа, отрекшийся, но прощëнный и исполнивший свой долг до конца, как участник страстных событий, как проповедник учения, хранитель ключей от Райских врат, свидетель многих божественных чудес.
