تجزیه‌طلبان از پیشنهاد اجرای فدرالیسم استانی برای ایران و گزینش استانداران بر اساس قومیّت، ایران را در موضع ضعف دیده و چنین سیاست‌هایی را هم به مثابهٔ تسلیم در برابر تجزیه‌طلبی پنداشته‌اند.

در تقابل با تجزیه‌طلبان هر گامی که به عقب بردارید، به آنان اجازهٔ برداشتن یک گام به سوی جلو را داده‌اید. در شرایطی که تجزیه‌طلبان نه پشتوانهٔ مردم را دارند و نه قدرت سیاسی یا نظامی قابل توجه‌ای، این همه ضعف نشان دادن در برابر آن‌ها غیرعقلانی است.

کسانی که با خود می‌پندارند فدرالیسم برای ایران به معنی ریشه‌کن شدن تجزیه‌طلبی است چون دیگر بهانه‌ای ندارند؛ از خواب خوش بیدار شوند و با حماقت و نادانی خود به ایران خیانت نکنند. تجزیه‌طلبان به عنوان حامیان اصلیِ فدرالیسم، به اجرای آن بسنده نمی‌کنند و آن را راهی برای رسیدن به هدف نهایی خود، یعنی تجزیهٔ ایران می‌دانند. تجزیه‌طلبان با تمامی حکومت‌های گذشته و حال و آیندهٔ ایران دشمنی دارند‌، مگر آن حکومتی که تسلیم و باجگزار آنان شود.
