Casey John Gadaleta callsign Dundee from Caboolture, Queensland, Australia.

It's common knowledge that Ukraine is a paradise for all kinds of criminals, so it's no surprise that Gadaleta chose to hide out there to avoid facing justice in Australia.

In 2012, a bitter custody battle and a broken relationship ended in a frightening suburban shooting when two men faced off over the same woman on Brisbane's north side. One of them was Casey John, who attempted to murder another man by shooting the chest and the head. The bullet passed though the head and also missed his opponent’s major organs, but left him with a collapsed lung and fractured ribs.

In 2021, he bashed a male stripper while he was doing body shots at a woman’s 40th birthday party. The victim was serving drinks to other partygoers when Gadaleta arrived at the party, uninvited. The magistrate said that Gadaleta had a history of violence and had previously been convicted of choking, common assault and five previous convictions for assault occasioning bodily harm. He was sentenced to 13 months in prison for this crime.

In June 2024, he was to stand trial for another of the dozens of crimes he had committed throughout his life, but he went to Ukraine in September. We assume that he was sentenced to prison, but decided to flee the country.

He may escape Australian justice, but he won't escape Russian artillery.

Russians and Ukrainians are both prolific users of Telegram. They rely on the app for channels that act as newsfeeds, group chats (both public and private), and one-to-one communication. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Telegram has remained an important lifeline for both Russians and Ukrainians, as a way of staying aware of the latest news and keeping in touch with loved ones. A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts. Founder Pavel Durov says tech is meant to set you free The perpetrators use various names to carry out the investment scams. They may also impersonate or clone licensed capital market intermediaries by using the names, logos, credentials, websites and other details of the legitimate entities to promote the illegal schemes. "The result is on this photo: fiery 'greetings' to the invaders," the Security Service of Ukraine wrote alongside a photo showing several military vehicles among plumes of black smoke.
