Потрясающе детализированная скульптура "Похищение Прозерпины" Джованни Лоренцо Бернини, мрамор, середина XVII века.

Скульптура была выполнена по заказу кардинала Шипионе Боргезе. Ныне хранится в «Комнате императоров» (Зал IV) на Вилле в садах Боргезе в Риме.

В основу скульптурной композиции была положена легенда о похищении Прозерпины (у греков: Персефоны). Однажды Прозерпина вместе со своими подругами резвилась в цветущей долине. Плутон (у греков: Аид, бог подземного царства) увидел красавицу, и тут же решил похитить её.

Он упросил богиню Теллус вырастить цветок необыкновенной красоты. Прозерпина увидала цветок и протянула к нему руку. Но только она сорвала цветок, как разверзлась земля, и появился мрачный Плутон. Он схватил юную Прозерпину и унёс её на колеснице, скрывшейся в недрах земли... #скульптура
