A serviceman from the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, Hniezdilov, who publicly admitted to unauthorized absence (UA), has been detained. He faces up to 12 years in prison, according to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).

In an interview, he acknowledged committing a criminal offense and did not justify his actions. However, he stated that he did it because the legislation does not regulate demobilization issues, and the problem is simply being ignored.

UA refers to the unauthorized leaving of a military unit (desertion).

A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts. Oh no. There’s a certain degree of myth-making around what exactly went on, so take everything that follows lightly. Telegram was originally launched as a side project by the Durov brothers, with Nikolai handling the coding and Pavel as CEO, while both were at VK. In a message on his Telegram channel recently recounting the episode, Durov wrote: "I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation." It is unclear who runs the account, although Russia's official Ministry of Foreign Affairs Twitter account promoted the Telegram channel on Saturday and claimed it was operated by "a group of experts & journalists." The message was not authentic, with the real Zelenskiy soon denying the claim on his official Telegram channel, but the incident highlighted a major problem: disinformation quickly spreads unchecked on the encrypted app.
