The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been a driving force in markets for the past few weeks. Although some channels have been removed, the curation process is considered opaque and insufficient by analysts. During the operations, Sebi officials seized various records and documents, including 34 mobile phones, six laptops, four desktops, four tablets, two hard drive disks and one pen drive from the custody of these persons. They now run it from Dubai, and Pavel Durov says it has more than 500 million monthly active users. On Telegram’s website, it says that Pavel Durov “supports Telegram financially and ideologically while Nikolai (Duvov)’s input is technological.” Currently, the Telegram team is based in Dubai, having moved around from Berlin, London and Singapore after departing Russia. Meanwhile, the company which owns Telegram is registered in the British Virgin Islands.
