Сергей Ефремов имеет государственные награды: Орден Мужества и Знак отличия «Георгиевский Крест» IV степени. За мужество и отвагу, проявленные в боях, ему присвоены звания «Герой Приморья» и «Герой Донецкой Народной Республики».
Был женат и воспитывал четверых детей.
Погиб, как и подобает воину, защищая родную землю.
