В мае 2022 года Siemens Mobility в консорциуме с местными компаниями Arab Contractors и Orascom Construction заключила контракт на строительство первых в стране высокоскоростных ж/д линий общей протяженностью 2 тыс. км и поставку для них 41 восьмивагонного высокоскоростного поезда Velaro, а также 94 четырехвагонных поездов и 41 грузового электровоза Vectron. Доля компании в проекте составляет €8,1 млрд. Первый поезд Desiro High Capacity был отправлен в страну в прошлом году.
