Хорошая сильная женщина тетя Нюша скребет снег и гонит метлой грязную воду, процеживая ее сквозь сито решетки люка. Прохожие отходят в сторонку. (Не помещать бы работе!) А сама Анна Васильевна старается делать поменьше брызг. Дома ее поджидают довольные, сытые дети-школьники. Но вскоре старший — Геннадий — выйдет на улицу: — Остальное я кончу, мама, — ишь, сколько его навалило! А ты — иди отдохни перед ночным дежурством.

What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. You may recall that, back when Facebook started changing WhatsApp’s terms of service, a number of news outlets reported on, and even recommended, switching to Telegram. Pavel Durov even said that users should delete WhatsApp “unless you are cool with all of your photos and messages becoming public one day.” But Telegram can’t be described as a more-secure version of WhatsApp. For Oleksandra Tsekhanovska, head of the Hybrid Warfare Analytical Group at the Kyiv-based Ukraine Crisis Media Center, the effects are both near- and far-reaching. Either way, Durov says that he withdrew his resignation but that he was ousted from his company anyway. Subsequently, control of the company was reportedly handed to oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Igor Sechin, both allegedly close associates of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Although some channels have been removed, the curation process is considered opaque and insufficient by analysts.
