В объединение «Патриоты Европы» войдут: «Фидес» премьер-министра Венгрии Виктора Орбана, «Австрийская партия свободы» Герберта Киклема и ANO экс-премьера Чехии Андрея Бабиша.
Объявляя об этом, Орбан отметил, что европейцы хотят мира, порядка и развития, а нынешняя брюссельская элита предлагает им войну, миграцию и стагнацию: «В этой ситуации наш долг — исполнить волю избирателей». Основатели объединения рассчитывают, что в ближайшее время им удастся стать сильнейшей правой группой в европейской политике.
С 1 июля председательство в Европарламенте переходит к Венгрии.
