На Байкале ученые устанавливают 14-й кластер оборудования нейтринного телескопа Baikal-GVD, сообщил губернатор Иркутской области Кобзев, показав фото работ.

Проектирование телескопа, позволяющего понять историю возникновения Вселенной, началось в 2010 году. Он состоит из кластеров, представляющих собой 288 оптических детекторов, соединенных в 8 гирлянд и погруженных на дно Байкала. Байкальская вода является важнейшей составной частью установки, ее оптические свойства позволяют точно отследить черенковское излучение - свечение, вызываемое в прозрачной среде заряженной частицей. С каждым расширением установка дает все больше новой экспериментальной информации.
