در پی انتشار گزارش‌هایی درباره گسترش فعالیت‌های سایبری حکومت جمهوری اسلامی علیه شهروندان، نریمان غریب پژوهشگر امنیت سایبری در مورد دریافت ایمیل‌های مشکوک به کاربران فضای مجازی هشدار داد. او روز شنبه ۱۸ اسفندماه ۱۴۰۳ در «ایکس» نوشت: «اگر در چند روز اخیر ایمیلی دریافت کردید که حاوی یک فایل PDF پیوست شده بود و مشابه تصویر نمونه به نظر می‌رسید، باید احتیاط کنید. کلیک روی آیکون گوگل درایو داخل این فایل، شما را به یک سایت فیشینگ هدایت می‌کند که توسط هکرهای وابسته به جمهوری اسلامی برای سرقت اطلاعات حساب جی‌میل طراحی شده است.»

What distinguishes the app from competitors is its use of what's known as channels: Public or private feeds of photos and videos that can be set up by one person or an organization. The channels have become popular with on-the-ground journalists, aid workers and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who broadcasts on a Telegram channel. The channels can be followed by an unlimited number of people. Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social networks, there is no advertising on Telegram and the flow of information is not driven by an algorithm. In view of this, the regulator has cautioned investors not to rely on such investment tips / advice received through social media platforms. It has also said investors should exercise utmost caution while taking investment decisions while dealing in the securities market. On Feb. 27, however, he admitted from his Russian-language account that "Telegram channels are increasingly becoming a source of unverified information related to Ukrainian events." In a statement, the regulator said the search and seizure operation was carried out against seven individuals and one corporate entity at multiple locations in Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar in Gujarat, Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Mumbai. Since January 2022, the SC has received a total of 47 complaints and enquiries on illegal investment schemes promoted through Telegram. These fraudulent schemes offer non-existent investment opportunities, promising very attractive and risk-free returns within a short span of time. They commonly offer unrealistic returns of as high as 1,000% within 24 hours or even within a few hours.
