На борту потерпевшего крушение Ил-76 находились восемь членов экипажа и семь пассажиров. ЧП произошло вдали от жилых домов, никто из местных не пострадал.

Причиной катастрофы стал пожар одного из двигателей при взлете самолета. На аэродром Иваново вылетела комиссия Главного командования ВКС России.
