О природе Вед и Упанишад Хотелось бы отметить, что мы полностью разделяем взгляды Франклина Эджертона, который заключил, что «содержание древнейших Упанишад, практически без исключений, не является чем-то новым, но уже было изложено или как минимум очень ясно предзнаменовано в более древних ведийских текстах» и Мориса Блумфилда, утверждавшего, что «[...] Гимны Ригведы, подобно гимнам из трёх других Вед, носили литургический характер с самого начала. Это значит, что они составляют лишь фрагмент... поздние тексты и комментарии могут содержать искомое объяснение»...

Поскольку ведийские гимны носят литургический характер, у нас нет никаких оснований, чтобы ожидать от них систематического изложения философии, которую они принимают как должное.
