Соответствующий указ глава Алтайского края Виктор Томенко подписал 1 августа. Местные власти получили рекомендацию устанавливать бронзовые бюсты погибших участников войны, которым присвоено звание Героев России.
Изготавливать памятники планируют по образцу бюстов Героев Советского Союза. Скульпторам рекомендуют использовать требования постановления Совета министров СССР от 11 июня 1973 года.
