Монеты к 75-летию со дня смерти Джорджа Оруэлла (он умер 21 января 1950 года) выпустили в Великобритании. На реверсе изображен большой серебристый глаз, а прямо в нем надпись — цитата из романа «1984»: «Большой брат следит за тобой». Что особенно хороша «рифмуется» с профилем действующего монарха на другой стороне. А сбоку написано «THERE WAS TRUTH AND THERE WAS UNTRUTH».

У всех монет одинаковый не только дизайн, но и номинал — 2 фунта стерлингов. Однако есть целых четыре варианта — простая, два типа серебряных и золотая. Ну и цены на них у Британского Королевского монетного двора различаются соответственно — от 17, 5 до 1515 фунтов. Но самых дорогих, золотых, уже в продаже нет — видимо, богатый большой брат всё разобрал на сувениры.
