Приговор ему вынесли в 2016 году, а позже этапировали в ямальскую колонию. Там Гасанов неоднократно подавал апелляции, требуя смягчения приговора, однако все они отклонялись. Параллельно он отказывался работать на производстве и пытался саботировать режим.
В минувшую среду он зашил себе рот нитками. Заключённого экстренно госпитализировали, в колонии проводится проверка.
