Раньше поезда такого типа в России не использовались, теперь же планируется построить несколько вариантов - в виде электропоезда, дизельпоезда или дизельэлектропоезда с шириной колеи 1520 миллиметров.
При этом платформа будет рассчитана и на колею 1435 мм, которая считается стандартной и используется в Европе, США, Канаде, Китае, Ближнем Востоке, Северной Африке, Кубе, Венесуэле и других странах. Всего в мире 60% железных дорог с колеей такой ширины.
То есть ТМХ рассчитывает не только на российский рынок, но и на экспорт своей разработки.
