Such recommendations induced the investors to deal in the said scrips, thereby creating artificial volume and price rise. Telegram was founded in 2013 by two Russian brothers, Nikolai and Pavel Durov. "The argument from Telegram is, 'You should trust us because we tell you that we're trustworthy,'" Maréchal said. "It's really in the eye of the beholder whether that's something you want to buy into." Stocks closed in the red Friday as investors weighed upbeat remarks from Russian President Vladimir Putin about diplomatic discussions with Ukraine against a weaker-than-expected print on U.S. consumer sentiment.
