Указом президента России гвардии лейтенант Валентин Михайлович Гейко, командир группы 10-й отдельной бригады армейского спецназа, посмертно награжден орденом «За заслуги перед Отечеством» IV степени с мечами.

«Туман» погиб 19 июня 2024 года в ходе выполнения боевой задачи на Херсонском направлении. Службе в бригаде он отдал 13 лет жизни. Неоднократно выполнял боевые задачи на Северном Кавказе, в Сирийской Арабской Республике. С первого дня СВО приступил к выполнению задач со своим подразделением, в том числе с нашими друзьями. Именно с Вальком на задачи ходил и Белый.

За время службы также был награжден орденом Мужества, медалями «За отвагу», Суворова, Жукова. После гибели был представлен к званию Героя России, однако звание «срезали» на орден.
