В отделе полиции ему помогал защитник от ОВД-Инфо Артем Шульман.
Новикова задержали с плакатом с фотографиями разрушенных из-за войны украинских городов и подписью «более 1000 дней». Мужчина стоял в одиночном пикете около площади 1905 года.
