Этот день наполняется ароматом жареного мяса, а дым от барбекю виден с высоты птичьего полета и можно перекусить сувлаки (небольшие шашлыки, популярное блюдо греческой кухни) прямо на тротуаре. Начинаются уличные гулянья в карнавальных костюмах, отовсюду звучит традиционная кипрская музыка, даже для офисов и школ это особенный день.
Карнавалы в феврале проходят также в Бразилии (Рио-де-Жанейро), Италии (Венеция), Испании (Санта-Крус-де-Тенерифе), Франции (Ницца),
А вот Германия известна своим безумным (лично подтверждаю) Кёльнским карнавалом в ноябре.
