On July 31, Mr. Maxim Rubin, Consul General of Russia in Erbil, met with Mr. Hemin Hawrami, member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Politburo. During the conversation, the parties exchanged their views on current topics on the international and regional agenda, with an emphasis on the situation in the Kurdish Autonomous Region (KAR) in the context of preparations for the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 20. Ways to strengthen the traditionally friendly ties between Russia and the autonomy were also touched upon.

Since January 2022, the SC has received a total of 47 complaints and enquiries on illegal investment schemes promoted through Telegram. These fraudulent schemes offer non-existent investment opportunities, promising very attractive and risk-free returns within a short span of time. Apparently upbeat developments in Russia's discussions with Ukraine helped at least temporarily send investors back into risk assets. Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko that there were "certain positive developments" occurring in the talks with Ukraine, according to a transcript of their meeting. Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis." A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts. Oh no.
