В Петербурге сегодня отмечают 82-ю годовщину прорыва блокады Ленинграда. Жители города и региона возложили цветы к Монументу героическим защитникам Ленинграда. В этот памятный день собрались блокадники, ветераны, курсанты военных училищ, участники СВО, а также неравнодушные граждане и представители власти.

Блокада измученного города была прорвана 18 января 1943 года в ходе успешной наступательной операции советских войск под названием "Искра".

Блокада Ленинграда длилась 872 дня, с 8 сентября 1941 года по 27 января 1944. За эти дни жертвами немецкого окружения стало более миллиона человек.

В октябре 2022 года Петербургский городской суд признал блокаду Ленинграда военным преступлением, преступлением против человечества и геноцидом. Сумму ущерба городу и его жителям оценили свыше 35 триллионов рублей.
