Родители Пластова мечтали, чтобы сын получил образование. В духовное училище отец отправлял его со словами: "учись, старайся, может, архиереем будешь", – в них надежда крестьянина выбраться из нищеты и нужды. Однако Аркадий Александрович пошёл по стопам деда Григория – иконописца и архитектора, и поступает в Строгановское училище и Московское училище живописи, ваяния и зодчества на скульптурное отделение.
Аркадий Пластов – народный художник Советского Союза, действительный член Академии художеств СССР, лауреат Ленинской премии, Государственной премии СССР и Государственной премии РСФСР имени И.Е. Репина, кавалер трёх орденов Ленина.
