The Calm Before the Storm

In late September I went on a mom's retreat with our kids to the NC mountains. It was absolutely beautiful! The reference pictures used in this piece, were from photos I took with my phone while we were there. We were there for 3 nights and on the third day, the storm rolled in. On the third night, we all had to go to the basement because of a tornado warning in the area due to tropical storm Helene. We even debated on whether we should stay because of the roads flooding. We decided to leave as soon as the sun came up on our original checkout day. It turns out that if we had stayed any later than we did, we would've been stuck at our air bnb on a mountain with no food, water, no way out, and no way to call for help. We were very lucky, but it was definitely scary and my heart breaks for the people who weren't so lucky. 💔

This trip and our narrow escape from Helene was the partial inspiration for this piece but not the only one. When we got back, one of my dear friends lost her husband suddenly just days after returning home and this was a week before the year anniversary of the death of my fiancé. It was a really hard time all around. When thinking about our trip and how delicate our lives can be, the title of this piece came to me.

Ultimately "The Calm Before the Storm" is about the comfort we have before a major life change and how sometimes that comfort can feel concrete, like it will always be there. Nature often reminds us that isn't the case. The good thing about this is that although our comfort and our joy can't last forever, neither can our pain and sorrow.

The moth being the focal point of this piece represents just how beautiful, yet fragile and temporary life can be. It's important to appreciate the beauty of life and the experience of love when we can find it... and to show loved ones how important they are while they are here, instead of waiting until they're gone. This is something that can be all too easy to forget when caught up in the comfort of habitual daily routines. Thank you all for reading and for the support I've gotten with my art so far. It really means so much. ❤️🔥

The regulator said it has been undertaking several campaigns to educate the investors to be vigilant while taking investment decisions based on stock tips. READ MORE Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders. Russian President Vladimir Putin launched Russia's invasion of Ukraine in the early-morning hours of February 24, targeting several key cities with military strikes. Investors took profits on Friday while they could ahead of the weekend, explained Tom Essaye, founder of Sevens Report Research. Saturday and Sunday could easily bring unfortunate news on the war front—and traders would rather be able to sell any recent winnings at Friday’s earlier prices than wait for a potentially lower price at Monday’s open.
