Как говорится в заявлении МИД "Талибана"*, по результатам ознакомления с объективными данными они подтвердили, что уровень воды в р. Гильменд ниже нормального, а потому талибы были правы, относя текущий год к засушливым по терминологии договора 1973 года.
Отмечено, что результаты замеров в плохом смысле шокируют - скорость водотока р. Гильменд составила менее 7 кубометров в секунду (для сравнения, это в принципе в 3 раза меньше того, на что претендует один Иран без учета Афганистана). Более того, ее притоки Аргандаб, Аргистан и Тагаб полностью пересохли и могут дать воду в Гильменд только после проливных дождей. Талибы уверяют, что не будут препятствовать ее движению в сторону Ирана, но считают доказанной свою позицию - решающее значение имели погодные условия, а не человеческий фактор.
