New footage shows Georges Abdallah, Europe’s longest-serving political prisoner, following MEP Rima Hassan’s visit to his cell in Lannemezan prison in France.

Now 73, Abdallah is a Lebanese communist and pro-Palestinian revolutionary imprisoned in France since October 1984. Despite four decades behind bars and multiple legal rulings in his favor, France refuses to release him due to Israeli and US pressure.

In November 2024, a French sentencing court again approved his release, yet he remains imprisoned due to political obstacles.

The regulator said it had received information that messages containing stock tips and other investment advice with respect to selected listed companies are being widely circulated through websites and social media platforms such as Telegram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. Pavel Durov, Telegram's CEO, is known as "the Russian Mark Zuckerberg," for co-founding VKontakte, which is Russian for "in touch," a Facebook imitator that became the country's most popular social networking site. He adds: "Telegram has become my primary news source." For tech stocks, “the main thing is yields,” Essaye said. The next bit isn’t clear, but Durov reportedly claimed that his resignation, dated March 21st, was an April Fools’ prank. TechCrunch implies that it was a matter of principle, but it’s hard to be clear on the wheres, whos and whys. Similarly, on April 17th, the Moscow Times quoted Durov as saying that he quit the company after being pressured to reveal account details about Ukrainians protesting the then-president Viktor Yanukovych.
