Передислокация обусловлена работами по реконструкции на авиабазе Элсворт взлетно-посадочной полосы для обеспечения задействования бомбардировщиков нового поколения B-21 Raider. Временное размещение стратегических бомбардировщиков B-1B на Гранд-Форксе продлится до декабря этого года. С указанной авиабазы самолёты будут выполнять все запланированные на этот год командованием глобальных ударов США задачи.
