Продолжая тему полностью исчезнувших деревянных верхов московских палат: несохранившийся Коломенский дворец – единственный из деревянных дворцов 17 века, качественно зафиксированный художниками. Глядя на него можно сказать, что «верхи» могли иметь сложные множественные кровли – шатры, бочки, луковицы; отдельные окна украшались резными наличниками; холодные светёлки имели сплошные ряды узких окошек; парадные фасады теремов обшивались досками и белились подобно палатам (этого почему-то нет в выстроенной копии). Слишком условны и наличники новодела – все исторические рисунки условны, но большинство из них (или все?) показывают парадные окна двойными. Глядя на резьбу иконостасов 17 века, можно полагать, что проработка фронтонов в оригинале тоже была несравнимо более качественной. В городских теремах всё было, конечно, скромнее, но приёмы наверняка повторялись.
