Під час Розп'яття Христа Іоан єдиний з Апостолів лишився біля Нього, а також опікувався Богородицею до самого її Успіння. Іоан Богослов є автором четвертого Євангелія, трьох послань та Одкровення, а також єдиним Апостолом, що помер природною смертю.
