وقام المقاتلون بعمليات مسح للمنطقة حيث توجد عدة فتحات للأنفاق تحت الأرض. وفي أحد الأعمدة - التي كانت محاصرة - انفجرت عبوة قوية وأصابت المقاتلين. وتم نقل الجرحى إلى معبر إيرز، حيث نقلتهم مروحية تابعة لسلاح الجو إلى مستشفى شعاري تسيديك في القدس.
