13 декабря 2014 бассейн открыли после двухлетней реконструкции за счет средств Росэнергоатома. Были заменены несущие конструкции, 50-метровая ванна приведена к Олимпийскому стандарту, установлена система очистки воды ультрафиолетом и модернизировано множество систем.
Построен бассейн в 1982 году, а через десять лет состояние большой ванны, которая, кстати, вмещает 3500 тонн воды, признали аварийным и «Нептун» закрыли. За 22 года выросло поколение зареченцев без бассейна. Тренироваться ездили в соседние города.
Сейчас здесь проводятся Всероссийские соревнования, Первенства России, чемпионаты области и инклюзивные соревнования. Он по праву считается одним из лучших в области.
За 10 лет бассейн посетили 726 204 человека!
