Произошло всё в аэропорту имени Лестера Пирсона в Торонто. Борт Bombardier CRJ 900 прилетел из Миннеаполиса (США), но не смог благополучно сесть из-за сильного ветра. На борту находились 76 пассажиров и четыре члена экипажа, 18 из них пострадали, всех успели вовремя эвакуировать. В момент крушения самолёта скорость ветра достигала 32–48 м/с.
