Золотой Звездой Героя награждена 20 июня 1942 г. Наградной лист:

«Тов. БАЙДА в схватке с врагом из автомата уничтожила 15 солдат и 1 офицера, четырех солдат убила прикладом, отбила у немцев командира и 8 бойцов, захватила пулемет и автоматы противника».

С 1961 по 1987 год Мария Карповна Байда заведовала Севастопольским городским ЗАГСом.
