18 февраля 1865 г., 160 лет назад, в Петербурге произведен первый полуденный пушечный выстрел. Для производства выстрела использовалась 60-фунтовая корабельная пушка, соединенная с особыми часами центральной телеграфной станции, в свою очередь связанными с часами Пулковской обсерватории.
Обычай пришел из Севастополя, где по выстрелу пушки точно в полдень сверяли часы на кораблях.

Two days after Russia invaded Ukraine, an account on the Telegram messaging platform posing as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy urged his armed forces to surrender. So, uh, whenever I hear about Telegram, it’s always in relation to something bad. What gives? Lastly, the web previews of t.me links have been given a new look, adding chat backgrounds and design elements from the fully-features Telegram Web client. Right now the digital security needs of Russians and Ukrainians are very different, and they lead to very different caveats about how to mitigate the risks associated with using Telegram. For Ukrainians in Ukraine, whose physical safety is at risk because they are in a war zone, digital security is probably not their highest priority. They may value access to news and communication with their loved ones over making sure that all of their communications are encrypted in such a manner that they are indecipherable to Telegram, its employees, or governments with court orders. Such instructions could actually endanger people — citizens receive air strike warnings via smartphone alerts.
