Ударно-спусковой механизм ГП-25 (самовзводный) имеет достаточно простую конструкцию. Он включает: спуск с тягой; пружину спуска с толкателем; курок с ударником и осью; боевую пружину с гнетком; предохранитель.
При нажатии на спуск, он, двигаясь назад, тягой захватывает боевой взвод курка и проворачивает курок на оси. Проворачиваясь, боевой взвод курка, освобождается от зацепления с зубом тяги и происходит срыв. Под действием боевой пружины, курок возвращается назад, накалывая капсюль выстрела ударником. При отпускании спуска, тяга возвращается в исходное положение. Отбой курка реализован давлением выступов гнетка на ось.
