Известно, что кошки очень чистоплотные животные, которые умываются по несколько часов в день. Но вот воды они боятся, да и купаться в ней не любят. А если это все же делают, то быстро и практически не контактируя с водой.
Отсюда и возникло в разговорном немецком шутливое выражение «кошачье умывание». Поэтому когда человек впопыхах собирается на работу / учебу / др., у него не остается времени, чтобы тщательно умыться или принять душ.
Но у «кошачьего умывания» есть и свои плюсы: помогает здорово сэкономить воду.
