Банк России отправил на доработку дизайн новой тысячерублевой купюры с Нижним Новгородом — из-за скандала, поднятого православной общественностью.

Причиной стала оборотная сторона банкноты. Там изображен Музей истории Республики Татарстан, где нет православного креста, зато есть исламский полумесяц. Часть россиян решили, что это не сходится с традиционными ценностями. Также активисты движения «Сорок сороков» обратили внимание на Никольскую башню нижегородского кремля, которая до советского периода венчалась либо орлом, либо крестом — на деньгах символов нет.

Пока выпуск новой купюры в многонациональной стране приостановлен.
