Так хотят защитить русский язык от англицизмов.

"Русский язык объединяет разные народы страны, поэтому важно уважительно к нему относиться. Давайте называть вещи своими именами. Без красивых завуалированных формулировок и чуждых нам англицизмов. Термин "ночлежка" имеет корни в русской культуре и поможет лучше отразить суть и функции такого жилья", - пояснил депутат Госдумы Дмитрий Гусев.

Если инициатива найдёт поддержку, логично ждать переименований и в других сферах. Возможно, вместо мотелей появятся «постоялые дворы», кафе и рестораны превратятся в «трактиры», а гостиницы снова станут «заезжими дворами».
