رأيتةُ ، كان هو ! قصير القامة ، يرتدي ثوباً طويلاً يشع النور من وجهه ، جاء نحوي فقال لي : لا تقلقي الفرج قريب فـ تلاشت صورتة شيئاً فـ شيئاً ، استيقضت ذلك الصباح على خبر كنت انتضرة منذ وقت طويل حينها شعرت وكأن خاطري قد جُبر وكأنني في سعادة عارمة وكأن كُل شيء اصبح أجمل
كان شعوراً جميلاً ، وجميلاً جداً شعورٌ لا يُنتسى ...

In February 2014, the Ukrainian people ousted pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych, prompting Russia to invade and annex the Crimean peninsula. By the start of April, Pavel Durov had given his notice, with TechCrunch saying at the time that the CEO had resisted pressure to suppress pages criticizing the Russian government. Telegram was co-founded by Pavel and Nikolai Durov, the brothers who had previously created VKontakte. VK is Russia’s equivalent of Facebook, a social network used for public and private messaging, audio and video sharing as well as online gaming. In January, SimpleWeb reported that VK was Russia’s fourth most-visited website, after Yandex, YouTube and Google’s Russian-language homepage. In 2016, Forbes’ Michael Solomon described Pavel Durov (pictured, below) as the “Mark Zuckerberg of Russia.” Again, in contrast to Facebook, Google and Twitter, Telegram's founder Pavel Durov runs his company in relative secrecy from Dubai. The message was not authentic, with the real Zelenskiy soon denying the claim on his official Telegram channel, but the incident highlighted a major problem: disinformation quickly spreads unchecked on the encrypted app. This provided opportunity to their linked entities to offload their shares at higher prices and make significant profits at the cost of unsuspecting retail investors.
