Замминистра Минобороны РФ Юнус Бек Евкуров совершил уже девятый визит в город Бенгази на востоке Ливии в рамках турне по африканским странам.

Евкуров посетил Главное командование ЛНА и поучаствовал в коллективной молитве вместе с местными командирами. Визит проходит в контексте укрепления военного и оборонного сотрудничества между Ливией и Россией на фоне региональных и международных событий, требующих совместной координации действий двух стран. Ожидается, что в ходе визита Евкурв встретится с главнокомандующим ЛНА Халифой Хафтаром.

Местные источники полагают, что данный визит является ответом на недавнюю демонстративную отправку Вашингтоном в Ливию бомбардировщика B-52, способного нести ядерное оружие, для участия в совместных маневрах в городе Сирт.
