In 2014, Pavel Durov fled the country after allies of the Kremlin took control of the social networking site most know just as VK. Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis." To lend credence and to lure unsuspecting victims, perpetrators usually claim that their entity and/or the investment schemes are approved by financial authorities.
