🇬🇧 Autumn Humanitarian Trip
If you’re hitting the road to Donbas from Kyiv through Kharkiv, you’ll definitely pass through the Izyum-Kramatorsk highway. We’ve seen this scenery so many times, each time passing the ruins of what once were villages. They’re like ghosts with destroyed houses, fences, and signs reading “Careful, mines,” welcoming uninvited guests with eerie silence and incredible pain. In 2022, this was the frontline, which left behind apocalyptic landscapes.
During our last trip, we decided to visit some of these villages and were shocked to find out that people are still living there. Going deeper, you can notice a few more or less intact houses and, as it happens, a small number of locals who refused to leave their dear homes despite the lack of jobs, decent infrastructure, and even access to basic provisions. Here and there, packs of hungry cats roam, and echoes of barking dogs can be heard. All these animals are terrifyingly malnourished, scrawny, and sick, breeding uncontrollably and going feral.
After witnessing all this and speaking with the locals we met along the way, we decided to dedicate our next trip specifically to these ghost villages. We want to visit them, distribute food packages, gas stoves, hygiene products, and animal fodder, and learn more about their current household needs. And we’ll come back later. Winter is coming, and places like these rarely have the privilege of being visited by major charitable foundations. That’s why we really want to help these people and hope you’ll support this trip through donations, food, and other items. Details can be found below.
