Співробітники місії потрапили під атаку в селі Віролюбівка, куди приїхали, щоб видати місцевим жителям паливні брикети для обігріву домівок. На момент обстрілу вони саме розвантажували допомогу.

Офіційної реакції МКЧХ досі нема, хоча омбудсман Дмитро Лубінець каже, що організація знає про загибель своїх працівників.
